Project
Nightlife is a mobile app designed to streamline the process of discovering, booking, and attending live music events and concerts. The app’s mission is to connect music lovers with their favorite artists and venues while providing a smooth ticket purchasing experience.
Problem
Concert-goers often face fragmented and confusing ticket purchasing processes across multiple platforms. Issues like event discoverability, ticket availability, and unreliable delivery can frustrate users, leading to lost sales and poor event turnout.
Goals
Create an intuitive and engaging interface for discovering concerts
Simplify the ticket purchase and checkout process
Provide real-time updates on event availability and ticket status
Ensure secure payment options
Process
I followed a user-centered design process grounded in UX best practices. Starting with user research and interviews, I uncovered pain points in the concert ticketing experience. I then defined clear user needs, brainstormed solutions, and created wireframes and prototypes in Figma. After testing with real users, I refined the design based on feedback to deliver a seamless, enjoyable app experience for discovering and buying concert tickets.
User-Centered Design Process
To ensure Nightlife truly addressed user needs, I followed a user-centered design process grounded in empathy, research, and iteration. I began with user interviews and surveys to uncover pain points in existing ticketing experiences—primarily issues around event discovery, lack of seat transparency, and complex checkouts. From there, I created user personas and journey maps to define the key problems and guide my design direction. In the ideation phase, I explored multiple solutions through sketches and low-fidelity wireframes before building interactive prototypes in Figma. I then conducted usability testing with target users to validate core flows, including browsing events, selecting seats, and completing purchases. Based on the feedback, I made refinements to improve clarity, streamline navigation, and enhance overall usability. This iterative approach allowed me to design a seamless, intuitive, and engaging experience tailored to modern concert-goers.
Solution
I designed Nightlife, a mobile app that simplifies concert discovery and ticket purchasing through a user-centered design process—resulting in an intuitive, visually engaging experience that makes attending live music events effortless.
Effortless Event Discovery
To address the frustrations users face when discovering and purchasing concert tickets, I designed Nightlife as a seamless, mobile-first experience that prioritizes ease of use, clarity, and engagement. The app allows users to browse upcoming events using intuitive filters such as genre, location, date, and popularity. Event pages display all key details up front, including artist info, venue maps, and real-time ticket availability.
Streamlined Ticket Selection & Checkout
A key feature is the interactive seating chart, which offers transparent pricing and visual seat selection, helping users make confident decisions quickly. The checkout process is streamlined into a single, distraction-free page, offering secure payments and options for digital wallets, which reduces drop-off and increases conversion.
Social Features & Visual Design
Additionally, Nightlife includes social functionality, enabling users to share events, coordinate with friends, and receive reminders. The UI is designed with a dark, vibrant aesthetic inspired by nightlife culture—creating an immersive experience that feels modern and fun while staying accessible. Every design decision was grounded in user feedback, with usability testing guiding iterative improvements to navigation, layout clarity, and payment flow.
Results
User testing showed a 90% task success rate, with participants praising the app’s ease of use, visual design, and streamlined checkout. Feedback confirmed that Nightlife made discovering and purchasing concert tickets faster and more enjoyable.
Usability Testing Outcomes
Through moderated usability testing with 8 participants, Nightlife achieved a 90% task success rate for key flows such as browsing events, selecting tickets, and completing checkout. Users reported that the app was intuitive, visually appealing, and significantly easier to use compared to other ticketing platforms. Most participants completed tasks without assistance, indicating strong usability from the first iteration.
User Feedback & Insights
Users praised the app’s modern design, dark theme, and responsive interface. They especially appreciated the interactive seating chart and one-page checkout, which reduced friction and decision-making time. Social features like event sharing and reminders were seen as useful additions, especially for users who frequently attend concerts with friends.
Design Impact & Future Improvements
Based on testing and feedback, Nightlife successfully addressed the core pain points identified in the research phase. The design made the ticketing process faster, more transparent, and more enjoyable. Future improvements will include calendar syncing, push notifications for upcoming shows, and personalized recommendations based on user behavior.
