Project

Kitter is a niche social media platform designed for gun enthusiasts to connect, share, and engage with like-minded users—while also providing a seamless pathway to purchase gear and firearm components through its integrated eCommerce experience.

Here’s a sneak peek of the site I’m designing:

Problem

Kitter needed a seamless way for users to engage with the community and discover firearm-related content while also providing a frictionless path to browse and purchase gear.

Undefined User Journeys Between Social and eCommerce: The platform needed a clear, unified experience that allowed users to engage with community content and seamlessly explore or purchase gear—something that didn’t yet exist.

Lack of Core Social Features: There was no structure for following users or surfacing relevant content, limiting user engagement and connection across the platform.

Incomplete Shopping Flow: Users had no intuitive way to browse, customize, or check out products, making the eCommerce side unusable without a full product design strategy in place.

Need for Multi-Device Consistency: With users expected to access the platform on desktop, mobile, and tablet, I had to design a fully responsive system that worked consistently across all screen sizes from the very beginning.

Objectives

To establish a strong design foundation for Kitter by creating a cohesive, scalable system that supported eCommerce functionality. I aimed to define the user flows, structure the interface, and design intuitive, responsive layouts that would deliver a consistent and seamless experience across all devices—from initial interaction to product checkout.

To leverage the UX process, I mapped out the core product journeys for eCommerce experiences, ensuring that users could seamlessly transition naturally into product discovery and checkout.

I designed core social features like the Following page, focusing on usability, clarity, and engagement to support a strong sense of community.

To design the shopping experience from scratch, including product listing pages, and a simplified cart and checkout flow that balanced trust, compliance, and ease of use.

Process

This category details the step-by-step approach taken during the project, including research, planning, design, development, testing, and optimization phases.

Research & Planning

To understand the needs of Kitter’s users, I began by analyzing competitor platforms, reviewing user feedback, and identifying pain points in the existing eCommerce flow. I mapped out user journeys, defined primary goals (like faster product discovery and simpler checkout), and created user personas to guide design decisions. This groundwork ensured the product experience aligned with both user expectations and business objectives.

Design & Prototyping

Using insights from the research phase, I translated user needs into wireframes and high-fidelity designs in Figma, focusing on clarity, usability, and conversion. I crafted intuitive layouts for the shop, product detail, cart, and checkout pages, ensuring each screen felt cohesive and purpose-driven.

Solution

A streamlined, user-centered eCommerce experience that simplifies product discovery, improves checkout flow, and enhances usability across Kitter’s digital storefront.
